Mask mandate lifted, Vaccination rates and outreach, COVID risk levels
Hi folks! I’ll be covering @ChiCouncil’s
Committee on Health and Human Relations meeting today for @CHIdocumenters
01:40 PM Feb 28, 2022 CST

Chairperson Sawyer of the 6th ward calls the meeting to order at 1:06pm, starting off with procedural attendance https://t.co/J6ZojzlKZj

There’s no public commentary this committee meeting, so we’re jumping to a presentation by Allison Arwady, Commissioner of CDPH, on the City COVID-19 updates.

So far 77% of the city’s pop. is vaccinated against COVID, with Arwady expressing a push towards optimism despite the pandemic not being over, due to a consistent number of people getting tested. https://t.co/A5HlfFgbYa

Overall, the biggest at risk group is still unvaccinated folks, both for catching the virus, death, and experience severe symptoms. https://t.co/OmO7AM7EuU

Here’s a link to Chicago’s vaccination site: https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/sites/covid19-vaccine/home/city-sites.html

Arwady shared that Chicago’s black community is steadily growing in vaccine rates, pushing us further in the right direction https://t.co/cDKvtwCQWo

Arwady also introduced us to CDPH’s new framework on how to better help communities city-wide, “Low, Medium, High.”
Arwady emphasizes majority of Illinois isn’t in the “Low,” category so being mindful over your traveling is still a big concern and needs to be kept in mind. https://t.co/SAIyXHDCh7

Overall, CDPH is moving towards pushing at-home vaccination for up to 10 ppl/appointment and ensuring treatment info stays available https://t.co/ncdyPrmc1l

The meetings been ended at 1:40pm after a very positive decorum.
